Union Growler Company was founded on the idea of giving back to our community of North Texas. We began by talking about our favorite charities while enjoying delicious Texas craft beers, and that conversation never stopped. We still get together and talk about how we can do better in our community, and we want to share some of our favorite charities and non-profit organizations to our friends.
Why work with a charity? Charities bring need to those who need it most, champion causes that may otherwise go overlooked, and help Dallas become a more inviting place to live—whether on a grand scale or family by family. Those who support charities do not expect anything, but many people find satisfaction in giving back to a community that so many of us have come to call home.
Without further ado, here are some of our favorite Dallas charities:
The Promise House serves the vital role of helping at-risk youths find a better life. Many of the teenagers and young adults that they work with are seeking shelter—maybe for a day, maybe for a few days. But what makes Promise House so special are its programs: family counseling, street outreach, crisis intervention, and education services. Catching teenagers at this transitional stage and giving them just a little bit of normalcy can make all the difference to their future. Learn more about the Promise House by visiting their website.
There’s no doubt that 9/11 changed the face of America, and countless of individuals have been affected by the events of that day. In particular service members and their families have sacrificed so much, which is why we love Hope For The Warriors®. Their organization focuses on service members and their families, especially those who suffered physical or mental trauma while serving their country. Giving back to these fine men and women is just a small way we can give back for everything they have given America. Read more about Hope For The Warriors here.
“Without music, life would be a mistake,” wrote Nietzsche, and we couldn’t agree more, which is why we’re huge fans of music programs like the Fender Music Foundation. The benefits of learning a musical instrument are innumerable; however, there are plenty of young people who are not afforded this opportunity or communities that have had to cut these vital programs. The Fender Music Foundation awards grants to provide musical instruments to classrooms, after school programs, music therapy groups and more. Learn how you can support their cause on their website.
Dallas Pets Alive has helped save countless cats, dogs and other pets from abuse or even death. While we’ll never understand why people abuse man’s best friend, we totally understand Dallas Pets Alive and encourage individuals to get involved, whether by sheltering pets, taking in pets permanently, or volunteering at shelters. Even if you don’t have time to volunteer, you can still make a difference by reporting individuals you suspect are abusing their pets. See how you can help change the lives of pets here.
There are thousands of individuals and families that will go hungry tonight. The North Texas Food Bank seeks to solve that one meal at a time, and they do an amazing job at doing just that: in 2014, the NTFB made 62 million meals accessible to those who need it most. Eating well and getting proper nutrition, particularly for children, can make all the difference. The NTFB is always seeking volunteers and donations, whether of food or monetary. Fill up someone’s plate and make a difference in your local community; consider volunteering at the NTFB today.
The Union Growler Company donates all of its profits directly to charities that benefit our society. When you buy any of our products, you’re making a difference for Texas—plus you get to enjoy great beer in your flashy new growler or show off a great look with your new shirt. If you’re interested in making a difference in our community more directly, we encourage you to reach out to any of these organizations, and if you know of an organization that Union Growler Company should consider supporting, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
